New Years Williams Style

Some may call it lame.  Others may call it pathetic.  For us...it is called "family time".

New Year's Eve came and the kids were excited!  They had planned on staying up ALL night so they could watch the ball drop.

Micah made his own ball to drop.  He used
rubberbands that he tied together and a bouncy ball
and had it go down just like the crystal ball.
The kids almost made it!  Quinn fell asleep at about 11:30pm and Micah and Sid fell asleep at about 11:50pm.  I tried waking them up but they just missed the New Year actually starting here in the midwest.

We did get to watch the ball drop for the East Coast though and the kids thought it was pretty awesome.  Not sure that they thought Jenny M. was awesome but the ball...that was very cool to them.

Sidney also made some special treats for us...cake pops.  She did a really good job and they were one of the few treats that I let myself eat over the holiday.

Midnight came and went...and I got to carry Quinn up to his bed.  He is a heavy little, snoring, dude!

New Pictures!

I am late...as always...with getting pictures out there.

This time though, really not my fault.  I have a computer that doesn't want to be a computer anymore and really just wants to be sold for parts.  In order to use the laptop it has to be constantly plugged in to something.  In our house, cords are not a good thing and just get chewed on by someone little, drooled on by someone little or tripped on.

I did get pictures uploaded though tonight!  That is such a huge success for me.

Here are some first day of school and some fun shots we took today at a local orchard.  These all look a little blurry but they really aren't.  Well...other than the one of Quinn where he is holding a sign.  It was raining and he is 4.  I'm lucky I just got him to stand still without jumping up and down the entire time...that is what he does when he is excited.  Enjoy the pictures anyways!  Oh...and there is one funny shot of an animal just for my hubby.  :)

First Day of School!

It is here! We made it out the door by 7:50 am. Kids packed snacks last night. They had their clothes out and were ready to go. I have no idea when they actually woke up but when I got home at 7:10am they were all dressed, showered (for those that now stink a bit if they don't) and were eating breakfast. They were ready.

Bonus...they have a brand new school bus to ride in this year. It looks pretty fancy :)

Few Cute Tidbits About the Kids...

Our summer has about a month left...and I am not quite ready for the kids to go back to school.  Today I am just enjoying their cute little sayings, their words that they say that sometimes that are unique to them and their innocent thoughts.  So...here are a few cute tidbits about my kids that I am thinking about today...

Someday my middle child will make a great husband.  Why?  Micah is in charge of emptying the dryer and putting in the wet clothes.  He does a great job with this!  He does such a great job that he even knows to take out my bras and let them air dry.  He doesn't even ask anymore...he just takes them out automatically.

Sidney is in that in-between stage...wants to be a kid but knows that some things that the kids are doing are just too young for her.  She has taken a babysitting class and she would love to be babysitting right now...if we let her.  She already has families picked out that she knows she could help out with babysitting.  We have let her babysit the boys while we run to the store quickly or while Chris and I have to be at two different places but have 10 to 15 minutes where the time overlaps and one of us can't get back home in time.  Her quote to me one time..."take your time mom, I'll watch the boys."

Quinn is enjoying his first sport of the year...T-ball.  He is swinging like a pro.  He actually thinks that once he is done playing T-ball that he will then be playing for the Twins.  Quinn is also our sweaty child.  He plays outside for 10 minutes and his hair is soaking wet.  It is so gross and so boy.  Mix that in with some dust, dirt and sand and you have quite the picture of a boy that needs a bath pretty much every day.

My brave man

This morning was not a routine visit to the dentist.  Although Micah would have liked it to be just a cleaning he was mentally preparing himself the last two weeks for this appointment.

I have heard almost every day the following from Micah, "Mom, just _____ more days until it is Wednesday."

When he first started saying those words I really had no idea what he was talking about.  Yes, Wednesday is coming up...halfway through the work week.  Yes, Wednesday is almost here, you have AWANA.  I could tell he was a bit disgusted though with my responses and that I wasn't picking up on his hints.

Micah was scared, nervous and just not sure what was truly going to happen on Wednesday, May 9th at 8am.

A few weeks ago we learned at his regular dentist visit that Micah's 6 year molars formed without enamel.  Weird, crazy and apparently some genetic thing that just happens.  What does this mean?  Micah has more sensitivity to hot and cold things as he eats and drinks that he just learns to adjust to throughout his life.  Micah will need some work done on those particular teeth to help them from decaying.  He also had one tooth in particular that formed with some softness that needed to be fixed sooner rather than later.

Wednesday morning came.  I got back from the gym around 7:15am and he was ready to go.  We still had half an hour but he was pretty anxious and obviously had been thinking about his appointment already.

Micah asks some important questions as we were on our way...
"Will I feel it?"
"What are they going to do?"
"Is the shot going to hurt?"
"Is the shot going to hurt a lot?"
"Will I be getting a shot in my butt?"

I did try to explain as best as I could to Micah that he would get some shots but his mouth would be tingly so he really wouldn't feel it.  During his appointment he also had some laughing gas...best invention for kids who need dental work done!  I have had a plethora of dental work done and my mouth shows it...but I never once have been offered laughing gas.  Ok...there was that one time that I was at the orthodontist.  That was a funny day.  :)  I think I will ask for it the next time I have drilling that needs to take place...Micah was so calm.  :)

My brave little man did really well this morning!  He wanted his mommy nearby at the appointment but he really did a great job...much better than I anticipated our morning going.  I had my coffee in hand and was ready for the thrashing, crying, yelling and entire ordeal that I usually get with my sensitive and sometimes emotional 7 year old boy.  I was very proud of him though.  This is just one more way that he is showing me how grown up he is becoming as he is getting older and older.

Our Tree & Mr. Silly

We ventured out of the house the other day to get our Christmas tree.  It is usually our tradition to get this after we return from our Thanksgiving travels.  Unfortunately, Quinn and I were pretty sick when we wanted to go so we had to wait until this weekend.

A storm was headed our way on Saturday so we got the tree just as the snow was starting to fall.  It was very pretty...driving over to Walmart North parking lot, passing Gander Mountain and finding our parking spot just across the street from Kwik Trip.  Ok, it might have been a little bit better if we were actually walking through a forest or a place that had trees we could cut ourselves but this works for us.  Plus, we had a coupon!  :)

The tree is up and we seem to have a leak somewhere in our tree stand so we delayed decorating until we knew that our tree was safe and secure and watertight.

Here are a few pictures of our adventure.

And...then the storm hit.  In about 2 hours we got enough sticky, wet snow to build things...and it kept snowing and we now have about 5 inches of snow.   Here is some of the snow that we got and the snowman (Mr. Silly Snowman) that Sid and the neighbor built that afternoon.
