Awesome + pants = Awesome pants!

Alarm went off and I was up and out the door before 5am.  Check.
Week 2, Day 3 of Nia Shanks workout.  Check.
Kids are back in school.  Check.

What exactly is this workout I'm doing now?
It's killer...that's what it is.  If it is an upper body day I feel like my arms are going to fall off by the end of it.  If it is a lower body day my legs are basically Jell-o as I am at the last exercise.  Thoughts like "I just have one more set" go through my mind...a lot.

I did have an accomplishment today that I had to share...this is something that I really haven't been able to do or even enjoyed doing.  I ran.

Have I had my issues with the treadmill?  Yes.
I have fallen on it.
I have been at various weights while on it and basically been draggin all of it with me.
I have had shin splints.
I have had issues with asthma.

Today I decided to do some intervals at the end of my workout.  I usually do intervals of some sort and decided that the treadmill was what I was going to use this morning.  Besides the fact that my pants were falling down as I was running (yes, spandex can start to fall down if it is too big...I had to roll my spandex this morning) I ran faster and longer than I probably ever have at that speed.

My fast is not everyone's fast...I am still dealing with extra weight and asthma.  My fast though is very fast for this person who started running 2 years ago at a speed of 3.5 mph.  Yes...3.5.  That was all my body and lungs could handle and I started with 15 second intervals.  If you think about it...running with 70+ extra pounds really is tough.

This morning I rant at 6, 6.5, 7 and 7.5 mph...all for a minute with a minute break in between.  This was also after I already did several minute intervals at 5 and 5.5 mph and was at the end of my workout.

I know that this may not seem like a lot to most people, but for me...my workout today was a success.  Not only did I finish my scheduled workout but I also did some intervals at speeds I haven't done in a long time.  Yay, Me!

So...I have confirmed once again that I need to go get some pants that will stay on as I run.  I had a hunch that I had shrunk a bit more and that I was going to have some issues with my pants staying on.  Today I had confirmation that my pants I used to run in are no longer my running pants.  Hiking up spandex while you run really is a bit counterproductive at times.  I am on a mission to find some new pants...which means...I am in a new size for workout clothes...again.  (Sorry honey...I am going to have to go shopping  :)  It is time for me to find my awesome pants!

Hey Jessica-

I read your blog the other day after getting your Christmas card. I've too been working on losing weight. Here's a website with great recipes that you might like to try. (They taste great too!) www.skinnytaste.com I tried to email you but I must not have a current one.

Thanks! It is great to hear from you. :) Your boys must be so big now. I will check out that website. It is sometimes interesting to find something that I can eat and yet what the kids would want to eat. My e-mail is mominmn@gmail.com What is your favorite recipe?
