update on dad...May 27th

Dad had surgery yesterday, Wednesday, May 27th, at about 7:30am. He did call me about 10:30am to let me know it was done and the halo was off of his foot. He sounded a bit on the groggy side still but he was capable of calling me at least :)

He did get a boot put on his foot that will help continue his healing. Not sure what this looks like but he said that it is heavier than the halo and he wasn't too thrilled about that part.

Dad was running a fever off and on for a few days prior to the surgery. There was some concern that MRSA was the culprit but all the tests have come back negative. His fever has been gone now for over a day so that is very reassuring.

I talked to mom and Julie this morning and Julie mentioned that dad was up walking today. He hasn't done this in a very long time...months! I am sure that he is thrilled and they were even able to see this happen which is pretty cool.

I will be giving dad a call tonight and check up on him. He is being moved from the hospital back to Friendship Haven today, which is the nursing home he has been staying in. Actually, it is the Thompkins Center which is part of Friendship Haven.

The mood in the Schild house is more of an uplifting mood today :) Julie is graduating this weekend and after some drama these past few weeks there is some sunshine. They are getting ready for the big graduation party today and tomorrow and then I will be helping them out once we arrive tomorrow night. Julie's graduating!
