Birthdays Galore!

Sid turned 7 on Tuesday and Quinn turned 1 on Thursday...wow! A week of kids turning different ages exhausted me. I also came to realize that this isn't just going to stop with this year...every year will be like this during this week. This year was an exception though because we did throw a party for Sidney which we don't do every year. Sid's last party was when she turned 3 so she was due to have another party. (Micah hasn't had one yet so I guess he gets one in February... :)

So, how did we celebrate? The day care kids helped decorate on Tuesday while Sidney was at school. We painted a big poster (and I mean big) that said, "Happy Birthday, Sidney!" Nothing like have a 5 year old, 3 year old, 2 2 year olds and 2 kids under 1 around while we are all painting...well, not the babies. Luckily, it was a nice day and we did the painting outside :) On Tuesday, we went out to eat with Sid and celebrated at Baker's Square and then came home and opened her gifts and cards.
Thursday, the day care kids helped make cupcakes for Quinn's birthday. All the kids had a chance to stir the batter and pour things in and put the liners in. The batter we had made a lot so we sent some cupcakes home with all the day care families. We had a short celebration with him that night and he was very tired and wanted to go to bed but at the same time he was rubbing his eyes, Chris was out in the garage with some people that were looking to buy his old motorcycle. We sang, "Happy Birthday" to Quinn really quickly when Chris came inside while the people were thinking about their decision to purchase the motorcycle. The song was the perfect length. Quinn tasted a little bit, threw the cupcake on the floor and then the doorbell rang and Chris went back outside to discuss the sale.
Friday, all thoughts and extra moments were spent planning Sidney's birthday party for her friends. Sidney invited the girls from her class and a few neighbors over for her birthday party that we had planned for Saturday. We had about 15 little girls at our house yesterday and lots of pink stuff everywhere! Sidney loves butterflies so she wanted a butterfly themed birthday party so that is what we did. We played pin the antenna on the butterfly, a balloon game, had a pinata and also played Hullabaloo. The kids had fun and they all went home with some candy and goodies. I was exhausted and didn't do anything the rest of the night except mop up cake and ice cream from our floor.
Congratulations Sidney & Quinn on your birthdays! You are both getting so big and I love you both very much!
