Jump!

Sidney has had swimming lessons this past week and next week. This is her first lesson by the Red Cross and she was pretty hesitant the first day. She took a community ed class last year that showed her some basics for swimming.

Monday went really well. Tuesday, Sid was supposed to jump in the pool to her teacher. She tried but landed on the side of the pool on her butt. I could tell she was embarrassed but she got in the pool and just kept going like a trooper. While we were eating that night, she cried and cried because she didn't want to jump in the pool again. She practiced that night jumping off the couch to hopefully give her a little confidence to jump. Wednesday, she didn't jump. Thursday, she didn't jump. I took her to a pool at a hotel last night and we practiced over and over again. She cried a little bit and was pretty scared but, she did jump! She jumped in the pool over and over and over again. She had a lifejacket on for part of it while she was jumping but even jumped without her lifejacket! I was so proud of her.

At the lesson today, they used lifejackets and didn't jump in the pool. Go figure! I am sure they will be jumping in next week though so she will get a chance to show her teacher her new skills.

While I was at the lesson this morning, one of the other moms was talking with me. She is a photographer and thinks that our kids would be great models. She loves Quinn and said he would be a perfect Gerber baby or for some ads for some local companies. Her daughter has been in quite a few local ads. I think it was funny. Quinn was drooling all over and making so much noise. He was a pretty messy baby this morning yet someone found the cuteness in all that spit :)
