Shopping with kids

Today I had my first outing with just me and all of the kids. We had to get some shopping done for some food we needed to make for Thanksgiving so we went to Walmart. I was anticipating a horrible experience. I had visions in my head of how it was going to turn out...Micah screaming, Sidney throwing one of her usual fits and Quinn crying the entire time.

The store was absolutely crazy. There were people everywhere! I guess everyone else had the idea that today was the day to get their food items for Thanksgiving.

The kids were actually really good. I was very proud of them. We were even there for about an hour so that is quite a long time to be wandering the very crowded aisels of Walmart. Quinn slept the entire time, Sidney was well mannered and had no outbursts and Micah was in the cart and he got to hold groceries since our cart is now full with a baby carseat and Micah. When we were done getting our food items, we went to the toy aisle. Chris and I needed some ideas of what they actually want for Christmas and we need to tell some family as well this weekend. We have the toy catalogs from the various stores that the kids have gone through. But, they have circled almost every single item in all of the catalogs so it really isn't much help. Sidney sees something pink and circles it. Micah sees anything "Cars" on it or "Spiderman" and he wants it.

We saw some friends at the store...Jessica and her kids and husband. Micah spotted them from a few aisles away and we ran into them later. The kids love Jessica and her kids. It is so cute! Micah thought that he saw her again but it was just someone dressed in a coat that was similar to hers. Very observant though, Micah!

Sidney made a turkey at school today and there were 5 feathers where she had to write what she was thankful for. She picked God, Dad, Mom, our house, and Quinn. Both Chris and I asked her where Micah was on her list. She said that she only had 5 spots so there wasn't room for him on there.

Micah was a very sweet kid today. He helped me get diapers for Quinn, he played with him while I worked out this morning and he "petted" his head many times. He loves his little brother and he is so proud of him and when he gets to help. Micah learned how to count with his fingers this morning. He had some problems with putting 3 fingers up but he got it eventually.

Quinn, well, he has a cold today. He is pretty congested. This is his first real cold. We were all sick a few weeks ago so it is interesting that he got this so late but there will be many more illnesses to come.
