I am officially licensed as a daycare provider as of December 19th, although I didn't know about it until Monday.
I started this process in July and it has been quite the journey. Our house is very baby proofed now and I think the biggest challenge is getting rid of the old habits that we have that are not permitted during daycare ours because they could cause a danger to a child. We have started to adjust as a family quite well though, there are a just a few other things that still occur when we don't have daycare kids here (weekends) that should just be stopped all together anyways. We will keep working on that.
We go through a lot of laundry now though. One reason is Quinn but the other reason is because with daycare, you have to use single-use items when washing your hands. To comply with this, we have washcloths in our main floor bathroom. We have lots of them and the kids know that when they wash their hands, they have to put the used washcloth in the basket. It works really well. We just go through a lot of washcloths. We would probably go through a roll of paper towels though in 3 days if we used that.
We have a great playroom in the basement. I am sure we will be adding to it through the years and get more for the kids to play with and some shelving or cabinets in there as well.
The kids have done really well with not walking on the carpet with their shoes on. With little ones crawling around and laying on the floor, we just can't have things from the outside brought in on our shoes. We are still working on dad because for some reason, he likes to walk through the family room to get to the kitchen. He has gotten better at this though. The kids are really cute because they stop right at the edge and don't go any further.
It is finally a little warmer here today. It has been bone chilling cold and horrible to be outside. It is almost in the 30's right now!
