Right words just before Christmas

Getting the kids ready for bed is always a challenge and sometimes seems like such a tedious task. There are moments where actions of words from the kids just warm your heart.

As I was getting Micah dressed in his pj's, Chris was making Micah's bed. Out of the blue, Micah said, "Dad, you are the best dad in the whole wide world." This was unpromted and so cute. I think this made Chris feel really good. I had to think though for a minute if Micah knew that this was the perfect timing for those words since Christmas is just around the corner. Hmmm.

We made Gingerbread houses today. Wow! That was quite the task. I wasn't really into the building part of it. I really don't like to get my hands dirty and having frosting all over my fingers was more of a nuisance than I wanted. The kids enjoyed it though. They loved having candy right next to them and had a chance to eat quite a bit of it. They even got to have a friend over to build a house with them too.

I read today a report about some recent economic changes in our society. Alan Greenspan recently made some comments and his words reminded me of one of my favorite classes, econ. I know most people hate econ but it really just clicks for me and I understand how something will make an impact on other items. Reading all of those words just reminded me of Iowa State and how I used to sit for hours listening about recessions and doing an analysis on a variety of different situations. I was one class away from getting Econ as my minor. I will still always enjoy it though.

Quinn goes in on Wednesday to get shots and his well-check. I am guessing he is at least 11 pounds, maybe 12. He is now officially in 3-6 month clothes. I am getting ready to pack up his 0-3 month clothes and pass them along to another mom. I realized that Quinn doesn't have much in this new size that actually works for our weather right now. Micah was this size when it was April so it was a bit warmer than December in Minnesota. It probably would seem like he has more but he just spits up on everything so Quinn goes through clothes pretty fast. I feel like I am changing him non-stop throughout the day and washing his blankets all the time. I guess I don't feel like it, I am doing that non-stop throughout the day. There is always a load of laundry going on here :)

We had a movie night at our house today. The kids love these! We either rent a movie or watch one that we have on Tivo and then we make popcorn as our meal for the night. They get to put their blankets on the floor, bring down some pillows and lay down as they watch the movie and eat their food. This is the one time that the kids usually don't get upset with eachother :) Tonight we watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". I used to do this with my family and remember when there would be a movie on Friday or Sunday nights on TV.

This is a big week of getting ready for Santa to come and making lots of cookies for our upcoming holiday weekends.
