Tuesday is over

Yesterday was a very busy day at the Williams house. I am very glad that it is over :)

The state finally came yesterday to do the inspection of our home for daycare. I have been preparing for weeks and months for this and it was finally going to happen. It seems like we have been cleaning forever but in a way it is a good thing because now no one walks on our carpet with shoes and kids are actually putting their toys away where they belong. With all the babies crawling around on the floor and putting things in their mouth, we just can't have things from the outside or little objects on the floor. Micah and Sid have done really well though about putting their toys away. I think once they really got organized, it was a lot easier for them to see where they all go.

Our house was really good and they liked the setup. I just have about 3 little things to take care of and turn a form in a we are all set. I will soon have my license to post and the phone calls will start coming. Our days will soon start earlier than they already do.

I also had Teen MOPS last night. It was our Christmas meeting and MOPShop night. We had tons of stuff that I had to bring that was recently donated for the store as well as the crafts we were doing. I really like the craft that I brought and will most likely be doing that for some Christmas gifts so I can't really say too much right now about it. I think they are pretty neat though. I had the kids with me as we went to go setup and the room we meet in is huge but just isn't very kid friendly. There is a stage and speakers and band equipment all over and is more of a hazard for them. Let's just say that it takes me at least 30 minutes more to do what I need to do when I have them with me :)

At our meeting last night we had 24 teens show up. We now have almost 50 teens registered just this year. This is huge!!! Four of those teens last night were new to Teen MOPS. Our last meeting, we had 14, the time before that was 17. Our numbers are much bigger than last year, almost tripled at times or more and there are moments when it is a bit overwhelming. We now have had more teens at our meetings that the Golden Hill School has enrolled (they have a class just for girls that are pregnant or have children).

With having such a big group, there are challenges though too and over the holidays, that is going to be one of the things that I am going to be working on trying to make it a little bit easier for everyone. One of the challenges is money though and that is something that at the moment is just going to have to be tight. Money is going to be spread a little thin now based on these numbers or we are just going to have to raise more money with our fundraising. We also need more volunteers. We had 11 babies in the childcare area last night and about 3 others that were in the room with us. That doesn't count the older kids that we had in another room as well.

One of the saddest things from last night though was when we went around the room and did introductions, we were to say what we were doing over the holidays. Probably 70% of the teens said they weren't doing anything or anything special.
